“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” ~ Fred (Mr.) Rogers
It's been wonderful watching our friends in Room 24 become so immersed in the Passover story. Through various forms of play, including art, imaginary play, cooking, music, storytelling and, of course, frogs; the children have learned the story of the Jews leaving Egypt - the story of Passover. Learning is most effective when it is fun and a hands-on experience. We started by telling the story through song, reading books and using the flannel board. We then incorporated symbols of the holiday, such as frogs and matza into our study. Next was painting pyramids with Lego blocks, painting with frogs, making matza pizza, dressing up as Moses and making matza covers. Thank you to Teacher Sue for sewing the finishing touches on the matza covers! We learned so many new things and had so much fun. We want to thank you for coming to our Seder. It was really special having everyone together. We feel so fortunate to have such a loving and supportive community. The children were delighted to have you there! Their little faces said it all. Thank you to Niloo for helping us set up and to all of you for preparing and bringing in food. It was a lovely way to begin celebrating Passover. We ended our week with a beautiful Shabbat. Thank you to Jacob and his family for joining us and bringing in the Shabbat spirit. Chag Sameach! Shabbat Shalom! Have a fabulous Spring Break! Sue and Judy
