Dear Parents, What a fun filled week we had! We started our week as we start most weeks, with a fun music class with Andrew. We sang our regular weekly songs using the shakers and bells, and this week we sang some Purim songs as well also using the bells. We spoke about Purim and mostly just reviewed the names of the characters, King Achshaverosh, Queen Vashti, Queen Esther, Mordechai and Haman. We told the children whenever we heard Haman’s name we booed and shook our groggers, noise makers. The children worked on their fine motor skills by decorating pieces of paper with stickers to make crowns they wore to the temple. They also had the opportunity to use paintbrushes to decorate a poster board we cut into a big mask. We had extra opportunities to dress up this week, making it an activity in the classroom as opposed to its part in the dramatic play area. The children had a blast dressing up from princesses to firefighters and chefs to construction workers. We made yummy hamantashen, rolling out the dough to make it flat, using a plastic cup to make it round, filled it with either chocolate chips or jelly, then pinched the sides to make three corners before we baked it. It was a delicious treat! We celebrated our first 3 year old birthday. Happy birthday Jacob!! Thank you to Nixon and his family for helping us celebrate Shabbat. We enjoyed our Purim Shpiel in Room 23 (due to the rain) that the teachers helped partake in. We had so much fun shaking our groggers that we made.
