Dear Families,
Our week has been short and sweet! We came back to school on Wednesday ready to reconnect with friends and to continue building new friendships. The children are learning each other’s names and the routine of our classroom. In the early stages of friendship, young children learn from one another through imitation and parallel play. Our children are definitely parallel playing and are in the process of making meaningful connections with one another. In morning circle, we sing each others names. This is an important first step in creating a classroom community. This week, we began working with our primary colors with paint. We have hung these works up in our room and will continue to explore these colors before moving on to secondary colors. We have also put new materials in our classroom for your children to explore. These include play dough and new cars and tracks on the carpet. We played with soccer balls and had a blast! Shabbat is always a beautiful celebration in our classroom. The rituals of the Shabbat table are perhaps the most beautiful and family friendly of the entire Jewish year. We take out the candles and kiddush cup. This week, we made our challah even more delicious by extending the Rosh Hashanah tradition of dipping our apples in honey. Some reminders for next week: -Tuesday the 18th is a half day. School is done at 12. -Wednesday the 19th there is no school for Yom Kippur. -Thursday the 20th we will have a late start at 10 am. We wish you and those you love a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year! Shana Tovah U'metukah Julia and Marcela
