This week our friends had so much fun playing with train sets. When playing with trains, children work together to build tracks and thus learn to develop their communication and interaction skills, such as sharing and asking for turns.
Through play, children learn to recognize each train by color and function. We might hide a train or accompanying item and ask children to find the bridge, carriage, etc. They also increase their vocabulary by naming and talking about the different parts on the train (e.g. wheels, engine) and within the train set (e.g. bridge, platform, station, mountain). Following instructions is a big part your child's learning. At first, they will follow instructions such as "stop" and "go," and will eventually progress to following 2-step directions, such as "pick up the train and put it on the bridge," or "give me the train, track, and stop sign." With trains, we also learn about concepts of on/off, over/under, fast/slow, and stop/go. Thank you so much for your participation in the Beit Issie Farmers Market. All of your donations (both bananas and monetary) are going to a wonderful cause. It was so exciting to talk to your children about tzedekah and helping others in need. Events like these truly help make Wise the special community that it is. As we approach parent/teacher conferences, know that we want this to be a conversation about your child. We will share our observations of how your child is doing in our class, and we also want to hear from you! Come prepared to talk about your overview of your child at home and your goals for the rest of the year. Warmly, Julia and Marcela Reminders: October 31st is a half-day and conferences are November 1st Tot Shabbat is November 3rd!
