Dear Parents, We enjoyed Music with Andrew where the children played tick tock “cuckoo clock” by hiding behind their colored scarf and every time we said cuckoo they “came out” from behind the scarf. We sang Skip to My Lou with the scarves and worked on our listening skills by putting the scarf on different parts of the body when we sang that body part. We used bells, and we had to listen to the beat of the song, and hit the bells with the mallets at the right part of the song. The children also used shakers and marched around the room like they were on board a train. We began our Purim provocation by setting out groggers, books, and necklaces for the children to explore. We read “Sammy Spider’s First Purim” by Sylvia A. Rouss, and spoke very briefly about Purim, discussing that we use groggers, or noise makers, to be silly, specifically when a not so nice man, named Haman, is mentioned in the scroll. The children had the opportunity to paint their own groggers, rolling an empty toilet paper roll which was covered in white paper, in red and blue paint, covering the roll with paint. We then put beads inside them to make them noisy, and we will use them within the classroom and also take them to services when we have our Purim shpeil (show). We have been continuing to monitor our little soil cups that we planted some flower seeds in and have observed the green that has been coming through. We had a beautiful Shabbat service with Ditza and Rabbi Josh. Thank you to Emma and her family for helping us celebrate. Shabbat Shalom, Gali, Erika and Debbie Reminders: Maxwell is our Shabbat Boy on Friday, February 23rd. No school in honor of President’s Day on Monday, February 19th.
