Dear Parents, What a wonderful and memorable week this has been. Your children have enjoyed the busy week as you visited our classroom and brought creativity and laughter with you. We ended the week with a Mom’s and Grandmother’s Brunch and Shabbat, a day filled with togetherness and love. Happy Mother’s Day to all, and here’s a little something for you. Shabbat Shalom, Lindsay & Bam This Mother's Day, Give Yourself the Gift of Mindfulness Moms~ What's the best gift you could imagine receiving for Mother's Day? As we discovered the power of Mindfulness, life became a little simpler. "The intention to be present in the here and now, fully engaged in whatever is happening, free from distraction or judgement, with a soft and open mind." Our Ego is what tells us to compare ourselves to others, to judge ourselves and others. Ego tells us that no matter how good life is, things could always be a little better. As mother's we're constantly judging ourselves, never feeling as though we're doing enough or doing it well. We keep our calendars full, always prioritizing everyone else. Our heads are packed with to-do lists and worries about the future scenarios that we can't hear ourselves think. Mindfulness teaches us to step back, take a breath, and reconnect with the present moment. It's sort of like cleaning out your closet, getting rid of outdated clothes. We practice, we learn to discard unflattering thoughts that make us unhappy Ways for Moms to to benefit Mindfulness * Carve out some time each day for stillness, only 5-10 minutes. * Engage your senses in an enjoyable activity * Incorporate mindful moments in your day: Instead of checking your phone as frequently, take 30 seconds to breath. * Recognize that your energy, whether positive or negative, is contagious. Be positive! * Take control of the present moment, and let go what you can’t control. * Pay attention to what brings you joy, and do more of it! Mother’s Day is the perfect day.
