Dear Parents,
This week, your children worked on an art project and showed their creative sides by making self-portraits. We had read the book “Leaf Man” last week and your children decided they wanted to go on a nature walk to collect the materials to build their very own self. They collected leaves, sticks, mini pinecones, a small acorn like item from the eucalyptus tree (seed pods) that they call coconuts, pine needles and we put out mini wood slices. Your children were very engaged in this art activity, following directions of having to brush the glue on first, put on each item and make decisions on what material they wanted to use for their eyes, nose and mouth. We also started another process art project that we will be working on over the next few weeks. The first step in this project was to paint a pinecone. Your children got to pick which colors they wanted to use and remained engaged for a long period of time. Stay tuned for further details over as these are all a work in progress. Our weekly lesson with Rabbi Sari was about being kind and helpful to one another and what types of things we can do to help someone. Your children shared ideas such as “helping daddy,” “hammering nails,” and “cleaning up.” We had another wonderful Shabbat together. Have a great weekend! Shabbat Shalom!
