Dear Parents of Room 15,
What a fun first full week of school we have had!! Some of our table top activities this week consisted of a process art project, rock building, matching and building. Process art is when children explore and create the same art project that will have quite different results. The art is focused on the experiences the children have while they’re creating. It allows the children to ask questions, see how things work, make their decisions and just create. During this project, the children worked on their fine motor skills by only squeezing a little of the paint out of the bottle and on to the paper. After they did that with all the colors, they folded it in half and patted the paint down. Lastly, they opened up the paper to see what design they had made. Many thought theirs looked just like a butterfly and they were so amazed to see what they had created. Some of them have said “Mine looks like a rainbow.” Levi said, “Don’t you think mine is so beautiful?” While building with rocks, your children had the opportunity to create any picture they wanted. Some made houses, a track from one side of the paper to the other, a letter in their name, a shape and some just explored with placing them somewhere on the paper. Music time on Wednesday was a blast. Teacher Andrew brought in sound sticks, noise clappers, cowbells, and colorful scarves for your children to explore and danced with. For Simchat Torah, we went to Temple with Rabbi Josh where we got to hear a little about Noah’s Ark and we even got to read from the Torah. Rabbi Josh had three children come up at a time and using the yad, they were able to read from the Torah. During circle time, we continued to read stories about the Fall and how the leaves change color, we read silly stories and talked about the meaning of Simchat Torah. Thank you those who brought in bananas and Tzedakah for our Farmer’s Market. The children enjoyed the experience of going to the Farmer’s Market and choosing the fruits they wanted to eat. Thank you to Levi and his family for spending Shabbat with us! Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and Shabbat Shalom!
