We started the week off looking at soil, seeds and planters. We continued our discussions of Tu B’Shevat and how we can take care of nature. The children got to choose between planting parsley, basil, tomatoes or cilantro. They told us what we can do with them once they grow. They got their hands dirty while taking the soil and putting it into their own individual planter. They told us what they observed at the beginning of this process. We talked about how this will not grow over night and we have to watch and observe what will happen to our seeds. We will observe the “Change Over Time” and record our findings. We heard things like, “I see dirt.” “The seeds are hiding in there and I can’t wait to watch them grow big and tall.” “I observe just soil.” We will continue to water our plants and keep track of what we observe. We are starting something new in Pre-K that we are very excited about. We have begun to introduce the Handwriting Without Tears program. This award-winning Pre-K curriculum is developmentally appropriate and designed so that all children can thrive and build a strong foundation for kindergarten. This program uses music and movement to engage children and help them develop good learning habits. Children learn actively as they play, color, draw, count, build, and sing. We’ll be teaching your child to:
Your children will learn important readiness, early writing, literacy, and math skills. These potentially complex subjects will be broken down into simpler tasks that develop on what children already know. This way, they can master skills one step at a time as they build lifelong learning habits. We welcomed a new child in Room 9 this week. Nadav comes to us from Israel. The children in Room 9 are extremely kind and welcoming. We started off his first day on a scavenger hunt around our school. Our kids felt proud as they walked through our beautiful campus proud to show Nadav all the places we get to explore on a weekly basis. We continue to welcome him into our community.
