Wow, what a year! To better state that- what a SPECTACULAR year!
As we approach our Pre-K celebration, the children are eager to sing songs and rejoice together one last time as preschool students. The children have been reminiscing memories that occurred throughout the school year. Each child discussed their goals for kindergarten, and talked about what they expectess for next year as they embark on their new journey. Each of your special children has brought such joy and happiness to our classroom. Every day has been a true blessing, and we are so proud of all that they have accomplished. We thank you all for your unconditional love and support; and for all of your thoughtful and endless contributions. Looking forward to celebrating with you all at our class party on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 12:30 p.m. Pre-K celebration begins at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4th “You’re off to great places, Today is your day, Your mountain is waiting, So get on your way!” –Dr. Suess

The ‘Shavuot’ holiday has been the main topic in room 3 this week. Each child created their own version of the Ten Commandments. As a class, we discussed the ten rules that would be written on this project. The children came up with important rules such as, “Respect your mother and your father,” and, “Be honest.” They used their fine motor skills to trace and cut out the shape of two tablets, and decorated the borders with mosaic art by gluing tiny bits and pieces of colored shapes.
The children created their own flower headbands by drawing flowers and vines onto a long strip of paper. Each child brought in fresh flowers to glue onto their headbands as well. They were so excited to wear their creations and dress in white for Shavuot. The children worked on their Shavuot journal entries this week. We are so proud of their detailed artwork and thorough descriptions of this significant holiday. We are looking forward to another productive week with your creative children. Have a wonderful long weekend and Shabbat Shalom! Reminders: No school on Monday, May 25 Shabbat boy for May 29: Brandon Faridnia Join us for the end of the year EC Tot Shabbat! May 29| 5:30 p.m. (Hershenson Hall) Click here to register! Thank you to all of the incredible mothers and grandmothers who visited the classroom this week. We had a great time with you all in the science lab, music innovation lab, and in the Synagogue celebrating Shabbat. The children were overjoyed to have you by their sides, for it has been a memorable and special week for us all.
In the science lab, the children learned about silk worms, and how these insects produce silk. The children were able to use a magnified glass to look at the tiny caterpillars and observe the way they eat mulberry leaves. Towards the end of the science lesson, the children had the opportunity to witness hamsters and rodents roll around in a clear plastic ball. On our way out, each child was able to blow their own bubbles while learning about the solution necessary to create soap bubbles. In the music innovation lab, the children learned about a variety of instruments. They were able to identify the similarities and differences between the instruments, and the sounds they make as well. It was fun to sing and dance to the 'Hokey Pokey' with all of the moms. We introduced the holiday, ‘Shavuot,’ to the class. The children understand the significance of this holiday, and that Shavuot commemorates the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah to the entire nation of Israel gathered at Mount Sinai. We are excited to make flower headbands with the class to represent this beautiful holiday. Have a wonderful weekend and Shabbat Shalom! We were back in the music lab this week learning about the different tones and music notes. The children love banging on the drums and singing songs with one another.
