As we are getting closer to Thanksgiving, we are introducing the children to the Pilgrims and Native Americans. We discussed the story of how the Pilgrims came to America and how the Native Americans were already living in America when they arrived.
Our focus has been on Native American arts and crafts. In all they did, the Native Americans used patterns. Since the children have been learning about patterns we have linked both units and the children love to create their Native American inspired art. We also have been talking about the meaning of Thanksgiving and what it means to be thankful. We read a book in which a little boy is thankful for all the things around him, the sun, the stars, the seasons and all that he sees. We then asked the children to look for the sunset at night and notice its colors. Shabbat Shalom.
