Happy (almost) Passover room 3! We introduced the story of Passover to the children. They are aware that the Jewish people celebrate Passover as a commemorate their freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt. We discussed the history of a pyramid and why it is significant to the story of Passover. The children are familiar with terms that related to this topic such as limestone, 3-D, cracks, carving, and prism. We discussed the meanings of these words and the children contributed to conversations by asking questions that were relevant to the material. We have been practicing the song, “Ma Nishtana,” (what has changed?) which represents the four questions that is sung during the Passover Seder. Each child created their own matzah plate by using their fine motor skills to paint, glue, and draw. They applied their creativity to this fun art project which they will take home to their families. We are looking forward to going into more details with Passover and elaborating on this wonderful holiday with your children. Have a great weekend and Shabbat Shalom! The Pre-K classes have been invited to a special assembly on Friday, March 20 in honor of our Temple's namesake, Stephen S. Wise, and the entire day will be forever known as, "Founder's Day." Our Shabbat service will be at 9:30 in the classroom and 10:00 in Plotkin Chapel. This unique celebratory event will begin at 11:00 in the Sanctuary where Rabbi Isaiah Zeldin will be the special guest! Our students will be seated with their fifth grade buddies.
