We hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed the time with your family. We had a great time celebrating Thanksgiving here at school with all of our PreK friends. Linda from room 9 told us the story of Thanksgiving and Ditza came to sing with us. It was really fun! It is time to celebrate yet again!! This time we are going to celebrate the Festival of Lights. The children have been working very hard to prepare a special treat for their parents. We hope you will be able to come on Tuesday to celebrate Hanukkah in the classroom. Our party starts at 11:30! The children are working on their Hanukkiot and learning how they are made and why there is a special candle called the shamash. We are also learning about the story of Hannukah, and the miracle that happened in Jerusalem more than 2000 years ago. As part of the light up literacy program, the fifth grade children are going to come to our class on Monday and read stories to us. We are very excited to have them in our class. If you would like to participate, please bring $2.00 to buy books for the children in Guatemala. We have friendship bracelets made by the children in Guatemala to give to the children who participate. Shabbat Shalom. Anne and Vera Reminders: Tuesday December 8: Hanukkah party. 11:30 Friday December 11: Farmers market. Please bring a whole melon or pineapple by Thursday December 10 to the class.
