We hope you all had a wonderful weekend at the Purim carnival. We enjoyed hearing the stories from your children about the fun they had! We know that some children signed the beam with their siblings and parents, and those that did not sign it at the carnival had a chance to do so on Monday with the class. We walked up to the beam and the children had time to look into the construction site. The next day some of our friends went to watch the beam rise with their parents. It is great to hear how excited they are that their names are in the new building! We began to tell the story of Passover this week with the help of Rabbi Josh. He came to the class and introduced all the "characters" in the story. When he left, we continued our discussion on Passover and the children were extremely interested in the pyramids. We spoke about the pyramids being in Egypt and our friends discussed how they know that there are mummies in the Egyptian pyramids. They explained to us that mummies are things that are rolled in toilet paper and that we should all dress up as mummies for Passover. After we spent time listening to the children discuss mummies, we continued with the story of Passover. The children listened intently. We began to decorate part of our Haggadah and even drew pictures to be printed in the Haggadah. This week during PE, we started our unit of Volleyball. It was very fun for the children to be able to play on the court on which the big kids play. They were able to hit the ball back and forth using different ways to hit-- bumping, setting and spiking. Some of our friends were excited to show Coach Herold that they knew how to serve because of their older siblings. Reminders: Consider spending your summer with Camp Wise!
