Although this week was a very short week, we were busy nonetheless! Last week during “G” week, we looked at a large globe and talked about all the places we went to on our winter break. This led our class discussion to looking at a map of the United States of America and discussing the states to which we’ve traveled. Mason, Noah, Lila and Kayla have all been to Nevada. Raymond and Eve have been to New York. Raymond has also been to Florida. Eve, Kayla and Raymond have been to Hawaii. Lila has even been to Arizona. We can’t wait to learn where everyone else has traveled to in the United States. This led to a discussion about travel and how we use transportation. The class threw their hands up when we asked who has been on an airplane. We discussed the difference between when we can drive somewhere and when we have to take an airplane and fly there. We were also able to talk about the difference between the city, state and country we live in. We learned that the United States of America has 50 states, and that the President is in charge of the whole country, which is made up of all 50 states. It ties in nicely with the fact that President’s Day is right around the corner, as well as at the end of the week when we will have a new president. Next week we will bring in a world map and discuss all the places in the world we’ve been to or would like to travel to.
