In honor of the upcoming President’s Day, we turned our focus this week to some of our earliest leaders. We focused on our first and sixteenth presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The class noticed how important these men were to our country, as their “portraits” are even on our money and our school is closed in honor of President’s Day.
At the library this week, we read the book, “Grace for President.” The children loved it! They were so attentive and so focused on the story of a girl running for her school election. They raised their hands to let us know, “I see George Washington and Abraham Lincoln on the poster in the classroom in the book just like our poster in our classroom.” “I see that George Washington is the first president on the poster.” “I want Grace to win her class election.” At the end of the story, Grace wins the election and she grows up to become the first woman president. It showed the class that anything is possible if we work hard and dedicate ourselves. Shabbat Shalom, Rachel and Linda Reminders: - Next week we will focus on the letter “M”. Friday is share day.
