We have been so busy here as we work, learn and reflect during our last full week of class in room 9. We have discussed the beautiful holiday of Shavuot and talked about Moses and how he brought the Ten Commandments down from Mt. Sinai to the Jewish people. From that story the children talked about rules and how they pertain to them and their daily lives. They made some important rules for our class and came up with such wonderful and impactful ways of living with each other such as: “respect each other," “listen to the teacher” and “don’t hit or push." The children also created beautiful flower headbands that they wore to services on Friday for Shabbat and Shavuot. They looked so beautiful in white as they celebrated. Thanks also to Gili and Chen for bringing cheese blinzes and cheesecake to help celebrate Shavuot in a delicious way! Reminders: NO SCHOOL May 29th, 30th, and 31st Last Shabbat 6/2 Gili and Mason Pre-K Celebration Wednesday June 7, 2017 This week, as the year winds down, we have been talking about the summer and going on to new and exciting adventures in the future. It is a time of ending which can be exciting and a little scary. We are talking to the class about their feelings about leaving Pre-K and the memories we have all shared together. Camp Wise Directors Liz Broberg, Ashley Marx, and Tatiana Soofer stopped by for a special “Taste of Kindergarten Camp” for all Pre-K classes this week! We did a runway relay, learned a new song called “Hermie the Worm”, and how to dance the boogie to Jackson’s “Blame it on the Boogie”! We hope to see them at Camp Wise this summer for more fun activities like swimming, sports, art, cooking, dance, science, music, martial arts, dress-up, petting zoo, bubble show, carnivals, Shabbat, and much more! The kids really enjoyed this activity and think camp here would be a lot of fun. They were talking about the art they could do, the sports they can be a part of and all the fun activities that would be going on this summer. We walked through the Art Innovation Lab on Thursday morning. The elementary school had their Open House on Wednesday night where the children were able to show off all their amazing work and learning from throughout the year. We were invited to come look at all their work. We walked through like it was a museum. With our hands behind our backs, we looked and observed with our eyes. We stopped to talk about what materials the artwork was made out of, and how the pieces were made. We overheard the children saying, “Wow, these are spectacular.” “When can I come to the art lab?” “They put the clay in a special oven to cook it.” It is pretty amazing how all of this is put together in such a thoughtful way.
