We have been very busy this week in Room 9. We started off the week talking about Pre-K coming to an end and expectations in Kindergarten. We started a countdown chain until the end of the year. On each link we put one thing we learned this year in Pre-K. The kids came up with amazing things that we had forgotten about such as: Learning about details, new songs, how to draw new things using all kinds of shapes, holidays, similarities and differences, all about spiders, how to write our names, the letter of the week and so much more.
We started discussing the holiday of Shavuot. This is where the ten commandments come into play. We made a connection to the rules in Room 9 and came up with our very own. We took mini Torahs out and they loved unrolling them and exploring them deeper. We talked about how learning from Torah can be sweet like milk and honey. That being said, we had to make something dairy in tradition for Shavuot. We took cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and eggs and beat them together to make the filling of cheesecake. We pounded some graham crackers to make our yummy crust. Wow they smelled delicious and they sure did taste great too. The kids really helped with each step of the cooking process. They enjoyed this project from beginning to end. We ended our week in our fabulous white clothes celebrating Shavuot with all our friends at temple. It looked so beautiful seeing all our friends at temple together.
