What an eventful week we had in Room 9! We are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving! We started off the week by picking Native American names. They beaded the necklaces that they will wear at our Pre-K feast. They made some amazing dream catchers. They learned that their bad dreams go right through them and their good dreams get caught inside. They started off by painting their own dream catcher. Next they wove string through the holes in a special design. Then they were able to bead their own patterns to hang from the bottom with a special feather attached. Lastly, they told us about their good and bad dreams and how they act if they were to have a bad dream. Come in and see their phenomenal work!
We also started off our week talking about the letter “F”. Fire starts with F! We talked about how the Native Americans were not able to grab some matches and light a fire. They had to use the resources they had around them. We took a walk and collected various sizes of sticks. They learned about the word friction. They learned that if you rub two sticks together, it could create heat and eventually fire! They worked together to build our own fire in the classroom with the sticks they collected and some tissue paper. It looks amazing and they were so proud of their work and what they had learned.
