Newsletter Room 9 February 19th - February 21st 2020 This week in Room 9 we celebrated President’s Day, remembering our first president, George Washington, and our sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln, and all our presidents and the important job they do. The teachers also participated in an important Professional Development day where we did an all school drill. We continue to make sure that at all times your children are always safe. We would like to share with you some tips that we learned and might be helpful to you:
Our next Jewish holiday is Purim. As soon as the children entered the classroom, we could hear them all talking and looking at the board and remarking that Purim is coming. They noticed the books, the necklaces and groggers. During our first rug time, we asked the children, “Who knows about the story of Purim?” Ella raised her hand and said, “I do, I know all about it. The princess said no, and another princess said yes.” The teacher explained that the story of Purim was written down in a scroll called the Magillah. The story takes place in Persia, which is now called Iran. Suddenly, hands went up. Evan said, “My dad was born in Iran, but my mom wasn’t but she knows a lot of Farsi. She learned Farsi because my grandparents speak Farsi to her.” Preston said, “My grandparents were born in Iran, too.” We will be delving deeper into this wonderful holiday in the weeks to come. This week Preston was our Shabbat boy - we'd like to thank the Gabbay family for joining us and making our Shabbat so special. Reminders: Picture Day Tuesday 2/25 Generations Day Friday 2/28
