Dear Parents,
We had such a great week here at Wise School. The students have been exposed to more challenging materials and letter recognition, which they have been very much enjoying and continue to strengthen their skills. We have been playing a slightly more difficult alphabet bingo, having in depth discussions about magnets, and coloring with intention and with thin markers and colored pencils. During group discussions, we have been talking about respecting one another and how everybody looks different in the world. With Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday coming up, we have been continuously reinforcing the equal treatment of everyone and fairness. The children were asked to choose a friend in the class that they do not usually play with and make an effort to spend more time with them this week. They practiced their fine motor skills beading little gifts for their friends, sat with them at meal times, and playing new games with them outside. With the couple of rainy days that we had, the children had a lot of fun having dance parties to songs that gave direction on what to do, such as the bean bag dance and the electric slide. We practiced following directions and listening intently. We also made oatmeal cookies for cooking this week instead of a birthday cake for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and the children sang him “happy birthday.” Thank you to Michaela’s mommy for coming in to read books with us for library, as well as to Sara’s family for bringing treats in to celebrate her birthday. Reminders: There is no school Monday or Tuesday of next week. Michaela will be Shabbat girl. Shabbat Shalom, Room 14 Teachers Freedom For all people, For all races, For all different Shapes of faces- For rich or poor, For high or low, Let's have freedom Wherever we go! Freedom at last! Let freedom ring! These were the words of Martin Luther King.
