Dear Families, What a wonderful week we’ve had! We learned about the letter “B” this week! We spoke about what sound the letter “B” makes and which words start with the letter “B”. The children also recognized that Bella and Ben’s names both start with the letter “B”! We even did an art project where we made a “B” out of different colored buttons! We have been continuing our learning about Tu B’shevat! The children are planting sunflower seeds in our outdoor garden! We are also planting beans inside of our classroom. The children each have a small planter with their photos on it and when the beans grow, it will look like their “hair”. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to see what plants need to grow and how they grow! The children also had the opportunity to do a science experiment! We mixed different colors of paint and “magic” solution to make blue and purple gak! On Tuesday, The children made a beautiful classroom painting of a flower plant using different colors of paint and making handprint “flowers”. The painting had brightened up our whole classroom and they feel so special knowing that their love and handprints made something “grow”! We have decided to name it our “Mitzvah Plant”, and we will be sending home Mitzvah cards for you to fill out and bring to school. We will hang them up on our plans and read them out loud to our children. Please encourage you children to do Mitzvah’s at home (good deeds). We had Grant’s grandmother, Erika come in to read us a gingerbread story and the children really enjoyed having a special visitor come in to read for us! On Wednesday, we did another science experiment! We took 3 white roses and water and combined primary colors to make secondary colors! The children mixed blue and red to make purple, blue and yellow to make green, and yellow and red to make orange. The children made predictions about whether or not the flowers would drink the water and change color, and what colors they would change to… we shall see! We also had Stacy, Truman’s mom come in and read with us in the library. The children had a wonderful time listening to two special stories, one about the seaside, and one about snowflakes! On Thursday, we experimented more with mixing colors! We had teacher Brock come in and sing new songs with us! The children really enjoyed listening to the guitar and dancing along to the music! On Friday, we had a beautiful Shabbat with Shahar and her family! Have a beautiful weekend, and Shabbat Shalom!
