Dear Parents, For the last several weeks, we have been incorporating puzzles into our everyday play. The benefits of puzzles for children are numerous. Cognitive Development is one of many skills that develops from children working on puzzles. Children learn how to have a better understanding of their surroundings; shape recognition improves and memory. Children also learn how to be patience, their Hand eye coordination, gross and fine motor development will also improve. Most of the children really enjoy assembling the tabletop and floor puzzles. We will continue throughout the year to encourage and challenge them by doing a variety of puzzles in the classroom. This week we have continued our discussions on Being Thankful. We have been reading books and asking the children questions “What does it mean to be thankful?” “How do we show our parents and friends that we are thankful?” During one of our group discussions, the children decided to invite two of the security guards that they see on a day to day basis to have lunch with us during our Thanksgiving Friendship Feast on Tuesday. On Tuesday, we had our first fire drill, after the drill we strolled around the school and decided to have a snack picnic on the lawn by Katz Pavilion. During our snack time the elementary children came out for P.E. Some of the children from our classroom were trying to communicate with the older children that were playing football on the grass nearby. We also watch other children hula hooping during P.E. After we were done with the picnic, we decided to play over on Room 1, 2, & 3 patio before library time. On the Pre-K/T-K yard, the children found a couple of hula hoops. Some of the children tried to imitate the older children that they saw earlier on that day. Our children were so happy with themselves when they were able to get the hula hoop to spin around their waist. In addition, Nikolai and Sash moms joined us in the library to read books to the children. Also, this week we experiment with paint and texture. We also learned about patterns and we started to incorporate patterns in our classroom activities: art, games, and beading. Reminders:
