Dear Parents,
It was quite the special week as we celebrated our Seder for Pesach. Your children spent time throughout their days singing songs that help to recall the story and becoming familiar with symbols from the Seder itself. While making their Seder plates, the children were exposed to a new material, clay, and got the opportunity to work it with their hands to have a sensory experience that is unlike one that we have had before. Because of the wind this week, many items from nature had fallen on the floor. Due to this class’ strong interest in the outdoors and nature, we collected items that spoke to the children and used those items to make people. We had lunch outdoors twice this week and the children noticed some of the flowers that are blooming. To bring this concept indoors, we put out a few beautiful flowers and succulents along with corresponding water colors as a provocation. Without any instruction specifically to draw what was in front of them, the children were drawn to this area and inspired by the plants in front of them. The paint brushes chosen were very thin. This strengthened the children’s fine motor development and required them to exercise control and intention with their drawing, as well as reinforce the ability to work independently. Thank you to Dylan and his family for celebrating his birthday and Shabbat with us this week. Also thank you to Sherlyn and Sannaz for coming to make the caramel chocolate matzah with the children, it was such a sweet treat to send off to spring break. Reminders: We are on Spring Break and will return to school Monday April 29th Friday May 3rd at 5:30pm there is a Mitzvah themed Tot Shabbat. Tatiana will be there! Mitzvah Day will be Sunday April 28th Shabbat Shalom, Room 14 Teachers
