Dear Room 14 Families,
Welcome back to school after a long weekend! Tuesday was picture day and we took lots of beautiful photos. While we waited for each friend to have their turn, we read stories and made the letter “E” with our bodies! In the classroom, we continued learning about the letter “E”. First we traced the letter E and then we glued paper eggs on top. During circle time we learned that Leena and Bella both have E’s in their name. The children learned some words that start with the letter E (egg, ear, elbow, elephant, eyes, eagle and earing). We so enjoy talking about letters each week. So far, we have learned A, B, C, D, and E. Next week we will learn about F and so on. We learned the story of Purim and learned about the characters in the story. Mordechai (Esther’s uncle), Haman (the mean man who wants the Jewish people to obey his orders or leave the town of Shushan), Vashti (the king’s first wife who does not like to have parties or have fun), Esther (the new beautiful queen who likes to have fun with the king) and King Ahashverash (the Jewish king.) The children learned that when we say Haman’s name, we make noise and say ‘boo’. We will be making noise makers next week! We will also be making masks and crowns. We have a Purim carnival the first week of March and your children will be able to come to school in costumes! We will be making hamantashen cookies. Here is a helpful link if you would like to read more about the story of Purim: http://www.jewfaq.org/holiday9.htm Have a wonderful weekend and Shabbat Shalom!
