Hello Parents,
What a fun week it was all around Wise as we celebrated Purim! The children had so much fun expressing themselves through costumes throughout the week and even creating their own in our classroom for Thursday, dressing as characters from the story. They made crowns, picked material, made a belt, and beaded jewelry to customize something that felt like their own. We also had deep discussions about super heroes and what they look like today, such as doctors, firefighters, police officers, teachers, and parents. The children were prompted with thinking of who we say thank you to when they help us, and this reminded a few of the children that they need help when they are sick. Firefighters and police officers have been popular in our classroom, so the children were engaged when we addressed the many ways that these people help us. As it has begun to warm up we have been able to take advantage of our more shady backyard that has a different variety of materials than our other yards. The children were so excited by our extra large blue blocks that are used for various types of building and imaginary play. This week the children created a small version of a purim carnival with stations where they could throw balls into the blocks with holes in them and another where they had to knock down a set of blocks. We provided balls and tickets and it was wonderful to see them incorporating the holiday into their play naturally. Reminders: Wednesday March 27th is a half day 12pm pick up Thursday March 28th there is no school for conferences Sloane is Shabbat child next week Shabbat Shalom, Room 14 Teachers
