Dear Parents,
We hope that everybody had a great Passover and spring break. The children enjoyed sharing with their friends at circle time what they did over break, working on their presentation skills and confidence when speaking in front of a group. It was a fun first week back as we have replenished our classroom with new materials. We got new puzzles, both tabletop and floor in varying levels of difficulty, new dress up clothes, and different books in our classroom library. The excitement for these new materials was evident when the children were asking to use them throughout the week. For example, the children were very interested in the space floor puzzle and in addition to completing it on their own, we did it group at circle time, giving each student two puzzle pieces and collaboratively putting them together. At the front of the classroom, where for the holidays we usually put objects related to that holiday, we have turned it into a science area with magnets, dripping timers, and kaleidoscopes. The children have had so much fun exploring and discovering this intriguing section of our room. We have also put out new stencils this week, as the children have strengthened their fine motor development and can exercise more control with a colored pencil. We also had painting with squeeze bottles, promoting more fine motor strengthening. The children at first used the bottles freely to paint a picture, then the following day they did symmetry drawings, painting only half and folding it over to see what happens. We also cooked granola bars with dried cranberries that the children very much enjoyed. We worked collaboratively and discussed where our ingredients come from and what healthy choices we can make in our daily lives. Thank you to Leila Berjis for being our library mom and for Grayson and Eli’s families for Shabbat this week. Reminders: There is a Tot Shabbat tomorrow, please contact the office to RSVP if you would like to attend. We have Havdalah Monday morning so please be sure to arrive on time as we leave shortly after drop off. The children are being asked to wear Blue and White BOTH Thursday the 19th and Friday the 20th. Next week Shabbat girl is Ella. On May 4th, there is early dismissal at 12pm and there is no enrichments or extended on that day. Shabbat Shalom and thank you for a great week, Room 14 teachers
