Dear Parents,
Welcome back from spring break! We had such a fun week as we had many activities that connected with our overall theme this year of doing good deeds and having respect. On a nature walk early in the week children collected items to later use when making stick people. This art activity incorporating recyclable materials led to discussions about taking care of our world and showing respect for nature. On our walks we also greeted those around us in respectful ways, understanding that it is polite to say hello and good morning to those in our community. As we have been continuing our discussions on these themes of good deeds and respect, our library has been replenished with books on these topics. Feel free to ask either of us about a good recommendation. We have focused many activities around working collaboratively and with open ended materials. The children have been continuously working on our 100+ piece puzzles, enjoying using each other’s strengths to complete the activity most efficiently. They also were challenged by having recyclable materials and plain wooden blocks as the only materials to make a maze for an object to go through. The objects chosen varied throughout the week, such as marbles and cars. The children used their imagination to use these materials in a meaningful way and they problem-solved with their peers. Reminders: Next week is mothers and grandmothers week. Please feel free to join us throughout our day on Monday and Tuesday, as well as Wednesday any time except 9:30-10:00.
