Dear Room 14 Parents, We had another great week at school! Monday we made a "Rosh Hashanah Alphabet Apple Tree". The children placed stickers with upper case letters on them on the tree when they found a match. We had special guests Marla, Melanie, and Rabbi Spike come visit our classroom on Thursday. They taught us all about Rosh Hashanah being the birthday of the world. We learned a fun song and we even heard the shofar blast. The children had an opportunity to touch the shofar. They learned the difference between rough and smooth (this particular shofar had a rough side and smooth side). Our art center continued to be a popular spot for our friends. We worked with glitter and glue on paper and created our own designs. We teachers learned that this class really loves glitter! We made more apples, this time using red construction paper (apple), green tissue paper (leaves) and small pieces of wood (stem). This activity allowed the children to further develop their fine motor skills by using scissors. Our class will continue working on upper case letter recognition, cutting, sorting, numbers and of course being a kind friend. Next week we have yet another Rosh Hashanah celebration! We invited all of the "Explorer" classes to join us on the yard with our rabbis. We will be tasting different types of apples with honey to see which color apple is your child's favorite! Lots of love, Teacher Sarah & Teacher Tiffany RemindersApples and Honey for Rosh Hashannah on Monday -(September 22nd)
