Dear parents,
We started our week off by saying goodbye to Shabbat and Hanukkah and hello to our new week with a grade level Havdalah. It was special lighting all the candles and seeing the children watch in awe and sing songs together. It has been a joy this week to spend time with the children playing small group games and exploring a wide variety of materials. Last week the children created mazes for marbles on the carpet and this week the children had the chance to do a similar maze building game but on a larger scale to fit golf balls. Our table top activities were focused on games such as the Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game (which focuses on fine motor strengthening, color matching, and turn taking) and alphabet bingo (which exposes children to letters, strengthening recognition, and requires attentiveness and matching.) We continued with the alphabet exposure through table top alphabet puzzles and a larger floor puzzle that the children worked on collaboratively. We played with cornstarch, giving the children a sensory experience and strengthening fine motor skills, and we also challenged them by adding new materials to the mixture throughout the week. Thank you to the WPA for putting together the Beit Issie Farmers market. The children get so much out of the experience, focusing on the concept of N’divut Lev (generosity of heart) and understanding how their actions can make a difference in the world. They also truly love visiting the market and consuming all the fruit!
