Dear Room 13 Families, This week was yet another wonderful week in Room 13. We continued our discussions on Purim, hearing the story again and talking about the values it holds within. We learned new Purim songs and had a great time shaking our groggers to the music. The children continued working on their masks, thinking about what type of mask we would each want to have and what it would represent. Joseph said he wants his mask to look like a Ninja Turtle because everyone knows they are strong and Noah J. mentioned he wants his to look like Haman to remind him of the story of Purim. We continued adding paint and decorations and will be continuing to work on them throughout next week as well. The children had a wonderful time baking Hamentashen. They worked hard mixing the ingredients and needing the dough. They greatly enjoyed making the dough into flat circles, adding a bit of filling, turning it into triangles and then of course, eating the delicious Purim treat! Thank you to all of our volunteers for bringing in ingredients and helping the children make this special Purim tradition. We continued our discussion on how we are all a community; a Room 13 community and a larger school community. We then tied this idea in with how on Purim we celebrate as a community; gathering to read the Megillah, together dressing in costumes, playing games at the carnival and the Purim tradition of making and delivering Mishloach Manot (Purim baskets). We talked about how on Purim, we make and give special baskets filled with treats to our family and those in our community. We will be making our Mishloah Manot next week. We ended our week with the opportunity to celebrate a beautiful Shabbat with Charlotte and her family. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
