Dear Room 13 Families,
What a busy, amazing week we have had here in Room 13. We began our week with a beautiful All School Havdalah service. Instead of getting together with just our Explorer family, this week, we gathered as a school to say goodbye to Shabbat and welcome in the week together as a community. All throughout our week, the children have continued working diligently and thoughtfully on their Creation Canvases. We have made our way from Day 1 to Day 3, each day representing God’s creations. With each day we continue our wonderful class discussions on what God created and how thankful we are for each of God’s creations. Through our discussions on thankfulness, we have introduced the upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving. We discussed how special it is that we have a holiday all about the importance of giving thanks. We introduced the word gratitude and will continue to discuss what this truly means, what it feels like to be grateful and how we can share this with others. We have begun reading Thanksgiving themed books, some on all the amazing things we have to be thankful for and other silly books about how fun-filled this holiday can be. As we continue to discuss and learn about God’s creations through our Creation story, as well as the holiday of Thanksgiving, we will continue to discuss the value of gratitude. Beginning this week, we have begun to extend our time in the Art Studio, so that the children can go more deeply into their study of the amazing materials available to them. The group that attended this week had the opportunity to work with clay, small glass beads, glass light table materials, as well as a number of loose parts. Our class had a wonderful time at Yoga, learning new poses for a variety of dogs. During our time with Rabbi Sari, we discussed the valuable lesson of holding onto the important things in life. We heard a story of 2 friends, writing in stone the times that matter and in dirt (to be wiped away over time) the times that don’t. We began learning Thanksgiving songs with Mr. Marcos, our Music teacher. Everyone thought it was great when he even dressed up like a Turkey (putting on a mask and tail feathers.) We ended our week by celebrating a beautiful Shabbat together. We celebrated as a class community in our classroom by making challah and singing the blessings together and then as an Explorer community in the Sanctuary by singing songs with Ditza, hearing a wonderful story by the Rabbi and kissing the Torah as it was brought around! Shabbat Shalom, Hannah and Chen Reminders: *Please make sure to sign in and out each and every day, with a legible signature. *Monday, Nov 18 – Professional Development Day – No School
