Dear Room 13 Families,
What a wonderful week we have had here in Room 13! We began our week, like we do each week, with a beautiful class Havdalah service. The children focused on the spices, smelling the sweetness that represents Shabbat and figuring out how we can keep it with us throughout our week. Throughout our week, we continued learning all about the story of Creation, looking at God as a builder of our world and working on our Creation books. The children have been working hard on creating each day of Creation to fill a book that tells and shows the whole story of Creation. We have begun to move our conversations from God as a builder to us as one. We discussed this idea during Sukkot, yet now we are beginning to focus on each child as a builder of themselves and as of friendship. It has been so wonderful to watch as our class has truly come together in friendship. While playing on in the classroom and on the yard, we have seen numerous new friendships blossom and large new groups of friends enjoying each other in play! Each time we have a new material to work with, we allow the children a time for exploration and then bring it to circle to look at together. This week, one of the new materials was a hexagon shape and color board. The children noticed that they could fill the board full of just this one shape. However, together we learned that we could use these shapes to create pictures and even patterns! We learned about simple patterns (red, blue, red, blue) and saw how we could make them with using all different colors. After circle, it was amazing to see how many children were excited to visit the Math Center just to try out their patterning skills. The following day, we then found patterns using shapes (circle, square, circle, square), so the children realize that we can use many things to create patterns. This week we celebrated our first class birthday! With much excitement, we celebrated Sienna’s all together. The children had a wonderful time singing to her in English and Hebrew. They painted a crown for her to wear and we even had a dance party to celebrate! We ended our week by celebrating a beautiful Shabbat with Pierce and his family. We also want to thank you all for bringing in the pumpkins. Not only do they make our room full of color and spark interest in the different colors, sizes and types, we also look forward to exploring them more over the next few weeks. Shabbat Shalom, Hannah and Chen Reminders: *Please remember to sign your child in and out, with a legible signature, and the time in which you arrived and left EVERY day.
