Dear Room 13 Families, Wow! What a week filled with light, joy and all the Hanukkah excitement you can imagine. We began our week, as we do each week by saying goodbye to Shabbat and welcoming in our new week, as well as our Hanukkah spirit. As a community, we joined together in singing our favorite Hanukkah songs and ending by wishing one another a very Shavuah tov and Happy Hanukkah! We spent our week reading more Hanukkah books, hearing the story of Hanukkah, singing Hanukkah songs, playing Hanukkah themed games, creating Hanukkah artwork and baking Hanukkah treats! The children had a wonderful time discovering that one can actually draw a picture using the wax from a Hanukkah candle and creating beautiful masterpieces by spinning the dreidel right into the paint! On Monday, the children poured and mixed the ingredients together, formed balls of dough (which Chen then fried) and filled them with jelly to create delicious sufganiyot (jelly donuts; a traditional Hanukkah treat). Everyone was so excited to try this amazing treat! Throughout the rest of our week, we enjoyed our Hanukkah themed Yoga session with Yoga Cheryl, learning new poses to transform our bodies into dreidels, gelt, a Hanukkiyah and Judah Maccabee! We had a wonderful time singing Hanukkah songs with Marcos, our Music teacher, and keeping the beat while hearing the different tones that different types and sizes of drums make. We want to give a big thank you to all of you for helping to make our Hanukkah party so special and a wonderful experience for your children! They were so excited to have you all here with them. It was wonderful singing, eating and over all being together as a Room 13 community. We also want to thank everyone who brought something to add to our festivities! We ended our week with a beautiful All School Hanukkah Shabbat. It was amazing being all together as a school wide community and celebrating all together before heading into our short break from school. We hope you all have an amazing Hanukkah and a wonderful Winter Break. We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday, January 6th. Shabbat Shalom, Hannah and Chen Reminders: *Please remember to sign your child in and out, with a legible signature, EVERY day, as well as the time. If you have a high-lighted section, it means we need your signature or time in that space, as well as your normal spot for the day. *Dec. 23 – Jan. 3 – No School – Winter Break *Monday, Jan. 6 – School resumes
