Dear Room 13 Families,
Wow! It is hard to believe that this was the last full week of our year here in Room 13. With that being said, we didn’t let it slow us down! We had a fun, silly and very full week as it was our Ruach (spirt) Week. We began our week on Tuesday with a cozy Pajama Day. Our circle began with saying the Shema as one might do before they go to bed and then we fell fast asleep (or at least pretended to). As the alarm clock sounded, we knew it was time for the morning Modeh Ani, however we then decided we wanted to stay in our Pajamas all day! Throughout our day we read books about going to sleep in our beds and even watched a short movie of the book of Llama, Llama Red Pajama. Wednesday was Crazy Hair Day. We read a special story about a little girl who used her crazy hair to remember the days of the week and we even had our very own fashion show, full with runway and all, where the children showed off their very silly hairdos. And finally on Thursday, we had a cold, but fun, Beach Day. As the children entered the room they saw centers with sand, water and even palm trees. Within the centers they went fishing in the water with tweezers for frogs and ducks and found hidden treasures buried in the sand. Throughout our week we read books and had special snacks related to each Ruach Day. Since we are winding down our year, the children also continued their work on two very special projects. The children were very excited as we began adding their families onto their family trees; excited to share who each special person is. We also continued our work on our canvases. Seeing as how we have spent our year discussing the importance of being builders in our world, we now thought of ourselves as builders of memories. Together we discussed many wonderful moments that we have had during our time together in Room 13. Some memories were more general, the love for cooking, circle time, stories, dancing, making new friends and singing, while other memories were special moments shared between friends or exciting things we might have created while celebrating our holidays together. No matter how big or small the moments might have been, each one clearly has a special place in each of our hearts. As the children began to create their collages, they loved adding the pictures and their own personal memories, on building blocks, of many special moments throughout our year. We ended our week with our final Shabbat together as a class. We had a wonderful time during our classroom celebration, as well as at the All School Shabbat. Shabbat Shalom, Hannah and Chen Reminders: *Please remember to sign your child in and out, with a legible signature, EVERY day. If you have a high-lighted section, it means we need your signature or time in that space, as well as your normal spot for the day. *Wednesday, June 6 – Last Day of School
