Dear Parents, We began the week with a Simchat Torah celebration in the sanctuary. A joyous holiday that we celebrate love of the Torah and study. Jen started us off with familiar songs that we often sing during Havdalah and Shabbat. Rabbi Sari shared some wisdom about the Torah with the children. After the Rabbi’s words of wisdom and some songs, the Torah scrolls were taken out of the ark so that the children could dance and rejoice around the temple. The following day we had storah time with the Rabbi in the sanctuary. Rabbi Sari discussed the importance of the Torah and what the Torah scroll was covered with. Each child had the opportunity to go up to the bimah to look at the Torah scroll opened and hold the yad. The Rabbi pointed out interesting facts about the written words in the Torah to each of the children while on the bimah. While we were playing on the yard, a few of the children started to pick up sticks from the ground. At first, the children started to run with the sticks. Instead of telling the children to throw out the sticks, we suggested for them to collect the sticks so that we could investigate and explore them a little bit more and come up with a plan on how we could incorporate the sticks into an art project or for daily use around the classroom.
