Dear Parents,
It's been such a special week during Father’s and Grandfather’s week. Thank you to all the father’s and grandfather’s who came in. The Shabbat was very special, and the children loved having their family with them. This week we began our Shabbat box project, which will be completed over the remaining months of the year, filling the box with customized things from the children to have your own Shabbat box at home. There is a book titled The Shabbat Box by Lesley Simpson that the children really enjoyed, and it connected them to their own Shabbat box. It is available on Amazon. In cooking this week, the children made strawberry sorbet that was sweetened with agave instead of refined sugar or corn syrup. The children learned about the agave plant, practiced using plastic knives in the proper way, and really enjoyed this special treat that was made from scratch. The children played alphabet bingo with uppercase letters to continue their exposure to capital letter recognition. We also introduced the concept of rhyming to the children through songs and rhyming matching games that we completed as a class during group time then allowed the children to attempt on their own during centers time. We encourage you at home to read books, such as Dr. Suess, that rhyme and talk to them about how the words sound similar, connecting it to what they are doing at school. Thank you to the library moms this week, Sharon and Laurel, for coming in and reading Natalya and Julian’s favorite books to our class in our wonderful Max Hess library that you all have access to if you’d like to go check out books before or after school. Thank you also to Grayson and his whole family for making his birthday celebration in our class so special. Reminders: Shabbat girl next week is Natalya. Picture week is next week.
