First and foremost, we want to welcome you all back. We hope you had a wonderful time off with your family and friends.
This week we introduced the topic of feelings. We started with the feeling of LOVE, and we opened the topic with a book about loving our mommies and families. During circle time, we asked why love was important. Eden said, “It shows you care about others.” Our next emotion was mad. We read a book about being mad and we discussed the things that make us mad. Paloma told us that sometimes she starts happy and then she turns mad. It is amazing to watch the children’s facial expressions of the emotions and to explain what really gets them mad, for example, “When my mom forces me to take a shower.” We are excited to continue our exploration of our emotions. It is important for our children to be able to recognize and express how they are feeling. Children often struggle not only with understanding their feelings, but also relating to other people’s feelings. These skills are critical for growing and building relationships. Even though we missed Earth Day because it was over break, we discussed it, read books and learned all about the important day. We read a story about recycling and we touched on the importance of taking care of Earth by recycling and by picking up trash. We also talked about the need to protect our animals. During our group discussion, the kids were very concerned about bugs and making sure we are kind to ants, rolly pollys and lady bugs. After two weeks, it was nice to see teacher Andrew again for some music. We sang songs, danced with the parachute and even got a chance to celebrate Ella’s 4th birthday. We ended the week with a beautiful Shabbat. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
