Dear Room 14 Families,
We were lucky enough to extend Mother’s Day with our “Mother's and Grandmother's Week” at school. We began our week with our moms coming into our classroom to make picture frames and necklaces. We had so much fun using rhinestones and beads! The mommies got to experience our morning routine, including the newest version of “Modeh Ani." Our “letter of the week” was the letter “L”, so we learned words beginning with the letter “L” (Lego, lotion, love, lion, ladybug and lollipop). We discovered that Liam, Logan and Leena all have names that start with the letter “L”. We made banana bread with Sky and Arlen for snack, which tasted so delicious. The children were very proud of their baking and said: “can we make this banana bread every day for snack?” A new game that developed this week is: “library”. The children use pretend keyboards and we “scan” the barcodes on each book to “check it out”. We had a surprise visit from Rabbi Josh! He played “library” with us and we set up a visit with him for our upcoming holiday of Shavout, The Feast of Weeks, which we celebrate seven weeks after the second Passover seder. Although Shavuot began as an ancient grain harvest festival, the holiday has been identified since biblical times with the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai. We are looking forward to the next few weeks with you and your children. We are getting lots of extra hugs in before the end of the school year (June 3)! Thank you for all you do and for having such amazing children! Have a great weekend and Shabbat Shalom! Lots of love, Sarah & Tiffany Thank You: Grant & Family for our yummy healthy snack!
