Hello Room 14 parents,
This week we focused our attention on shapes, numbers and our letters. We started the week with a number floor puzzle. Puzzles are a wonderful way for children to work on their visual perceptual tools and being successful, even with fitting just two pieces together, gives children the confidence to build on these skills, not to mention the pride they feel when they fit shapes or even complete an entire puzzle. It was nice to see the children get into groups and work together to complete it. Tuesday we started on our shapes, tracing circles, squares, triangles and rectangles. Tracing is so important because it builds pre-writing skills as well as allows children to work on their fine motor skills. Wednesday, we enjoyed music with Brock and used tambourines while singing new and old songs. This week we also got the opportunity to visit the Pre K yard! The children had so much fun in their new environment and enjoyed exploring all the different things the yard had to offer. Thursday we used water colors and painted pictures. Painting is so much fun and the kids really get to express themselves. We also did a little cutting project. We are working hard to get our Explorers ready for Pre k! At the end of the week we did a little meditation with the class and they truly enjoyed it. We ended the week with a beautiful Shabbat. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
