Dear Parents,
Thank you for a great week in Room 14! This week was filled with Sukkot celebrations in so many ways. We played in the sukkah in our playground behind our classroom, had music with Andrew in the Sukkah by parenting center, and ate lunch with room 9 on Wednesday in the Pre-K Sukkah. The children all shared what their favorite fruits were with their friends, as we celebrate the harvest with Sukkot, and we made a fruit salad with the mix of all of their favorites. We enjoyed this snack in the Sukkah as we sang songs and continued our festive celebrations. We also opened our butternut squash and made observations as well as roasted it with spices and olive oil. The children had so much fun cooking and even taking a field trip to the kitchen to see where it goes to cook and discuss the cooking process. Thank you to Ella for bringing Mrs. McNosh and the Great Big Squash by Sarah Weeks; we enjoyed reading it before baking our squash. We also decorated the Sukkah with art that the children created with this holiday in mind. At the art station this week was also a project in celebration of Simchat Torah. We made flags that resembled the flag of Israel and the students marched with them at our special Shabbat service in celebration of starting the Torah over once again. Next week we look forward to getting a closer look at the Torah and discussing its components and content. Reminder: Please sign up for parent teacher conferences, which are October 31st and November 1st. The Shabbat boy for next week is Blake Shaoul. Also on Shabbat next week is our school farmers market. Please send a few dollars with your child as tzedakah to purchase fruit. Shabbat Shalom!
