Dear Parents !
Room 14 has had a BUSY and FUN week! Monday we went to tricycle express and had lots of fun riding the bikes and running around the black top. It is so important for the children to be riding because it gives them the opportunity to practice their balancing skills as they lift their feet off of the ground and up to the pedals before initiating movement. Working the handlebars encourages upper body strength. We encourage all of you to practice bike riding at home! Tuesday we visited the library and read The Littlest Maccabee. It really the story of Hanukkah to us! The children also got to choose some Hanukkah books for our classroom. We incorporated Hanukkah into our music time on Wednesday, and learned some fun, new songs that we got to sing with our friends in Room 15. This week we started some beautiful Hanukkah art projects that we can’t wait for you to see! Thursday we played with play dough and had the kids put candles in it to make their own Hanukkiahs. This gave the children a great chance to count and explain to one another that we have 9 candles in our Hanukkiot. Play dough is so important for investigation and exploration as well as secretly building up strength in all the tiny hand muscles and tendons, making them ready for pencil and scissor control later on. We ended the week with a beautiful Shabbat. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we are looking forward to seeing you all at our Hanukkah party next Thursday December 10th!
