This has been a short, yet wonderful week! We began our week on Wednesday by learning that soon, each and every one of us would be creating our very own Kippah. Why? Why do we need a Kippah? Why and when do we wear a Kippah? These were the questions asked and answered during our class discussions throughout the week. We learned that everyone can wear a kippah and they can chose when and where they want to wear it. Some friends suggested that we could wear it when we go to the Sanctuary for Shabbat or even for Havdalah. Another friend said that maybe we could even wear it in the classroom. The children learned that all of these ideas are correct. We also began to discuss that we wear a Kippah to remind us that God is above. What does that mean to us? We are beginning to figure it out. We even learned a song that explains these big ideas. By Thursday, our Kippot arrived! The children were excited to find their own kippah and decorate it. We are hoping they will be ready and dry to wear for Shabbat, but if not, we will surely wear them on Monday at our all-school Havdalah.
On Thursday, we also had the opportunity to spend time with Rabbi Josh, who told us a wonderful story about Tu BiSh’vat. We also sang songs with Andrew. We ended our week by celebrating a beautiful Shabbat with Ariana, Mia and their family.
