Dear Room 13 Families,
Wow! What a truly beautiful, amazing, special week we have had here in Room 13! Throughout the week, we have had many special visitors taking part in our class. We began our class with a beautiful class Havdalah service. The children watched as the candle added more wax to our growing canvas and listened closely as the candle took an extra-long time to extinguish in our Kiddush cup. As we started our new week, we discussed how we were moving from the holiday of Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of the Trees, to celebrating Father’s and Grandfather’s Week here at school. Being a group of builders, we moved from being builders of life and nature to builders of family and community. Over the next few days, we discussed what makes fathers and grandfathers so special to our individual families and in general. The children shared many wonderful things that each of their own fathers and grandfathers do for them; read stories, play games, go swimming, etc. We read books about fathers and all they do for us. We continued to carry our theme of being builders, even as the children worked hard creating a beautiful picture block for their fathers. We had many special visitors throughout our week. It was beautiful to watch as the fathers and grandfather spent quality time in our classroom. The children were thrilled to show our visitors around our classroom (especially showing their artwork) and working at centers with them. We ended our week with an extremely special all school Shabbat. We were joined by many fathers and grandfathers who came to spend time, sing and pray with us. Thank you all again for your visits, book reading and quality time spent with your child/grandchild, as well as our class. Thank you to Philip and Cameron for reading to us in the Library. And thank you to Clark and Whitman for preparing and playing special songs for us on the guitar and harmonica! You have all truly enriched our week! Shabbat Shalom, Hannah and Chen Reminders: *Please remember to sign your child in and out, with a legible signature, EVERY day.
