Dear Room 13 Families,
Wow, what a week! We began our week, like we do each week, with a beautiful class Havdalah service. The children sang together as we blessed the grape juice, the spices, the candle and final the separation between Shabbat and the new week. As we entered into our new week, our class had the exciting opportunity to participate in a My Gym class here at school (in Room 10). The children happily jumped, rolled and even enjoyed a puppet show! With Passover quickly approaching, our conversations, singing and art work has continued. The children have loved hearing and seeing the story of Passover come to life. We tell the story often and in all different ways. This week one version was the teachers in costume, acting out all the different characters and parts to the story. And the second version was the children acting out these same parts. They greatly enjoy becoming a part of the story. We continue to teach and sing a variety of Passover songs, the new favorite being “Let them go” and frozen take on Passover! We also sang man Passover songs with Andrew during our Music time. Our room is even looking more like Passover is coming. To add to their parting Sea, this week the children created frogs to reminds us of the plague of frogs that covered Egypt. As we sat to talk about the Seder plate and all that goes on it, the children were very curious about why each of the items were a part of our Seder. We learned about the charoset, egg, parsley (that we dip in salt water), shank bone and bitter herb. We talked about how Passover is so special because even though we are all celebrating the same holiday, there are many wonderful family traditions that come with the holiday. A few friends even remembered and shared some of what they did last year! We look forward to hearing all about your wonderful family celebrations. After discussing all that goes on a Seder plate, the children each began creating their very own plate! We will continue this process through next week. We ended our week with a beautiful Shabbat and birthday celebration with Riley and her family.
