Dear Room 13 Families,
Wow! What am amazing week. We, of course, started as we do each week, with a beautiful class Havdalah service. As the children said goodbye to Shabbat and hello to the new week, we discussed all the exciting things we will be doing in this wonderful week to come. Our week was filled with Passover fun! We sang numerous Passover songs, acted (both teachers and children) out the story of Passover and continued to work on our amazing Passover Seder plates. As you all know, throughout our year we have discussed our class as builders. We have been builders of community, self, family, peace, life and light. As we have focused on the story of Passover, we have discussed what it means to be builders of freedom. We talked about how the Israelites must have felt being slaves to Pharaoh and what it might have felt like for them to then cross through the Sea to freedom. We discussed all the wonderful things in our lives that we have the joy of doing because we are free. The children mentioned that we can work and rest when we want, play or eat when we want and celebrate Shabbat and other holidays however we want to. As we continued to work on our Seder plates, the children worked hard pushing in pins, sprinkling glitter and even adding snakes and frogs. As they finished, one can now see a desert scene, including each child as Moses crossing the Sea of Reeds to freedom. We believe they truly created a masterpiece! Thank you all so much for your participation in Thursday’s Passover Seder! It was truly a wonderful day, celebrating with all of you. We hope you enjoyed hearing the story from Rabbi Sari, singing songs with Andrew and eating our festival meal together. Thank you all again! We ended our week with a beautiful Shabbat celebration with Sonny and his family. We hope you all have a wonderful vacation and a very Chag Sameach, Happy Passover!
